Internet Connection Problems

When I'm working in excel or any other offline application
such as playing games my internet applications
automatically pops up for a sign on and then freezes my
computer. I'm using XP Pro. Explorer is my IP and I go
through SBC. Any Suggestions. I checked my setup in the
control panel (internet) everything looked ok.

First eliminate any scumware.
