Everytime we connect to the internet, there is no problem
at all. And doing things on the net is ok to. But then
we disconnect when we are done and either shut the
monitor off or just leave it on...so the screen saver
comes on...and then all of the sudden the internet is
CONNECTED again without anyone doing it!!! Is someone
getting into my computer somehow?? It's freaky...and I
don't know whats going on. And recently we had FIVE
viruses in some of our files. But I don't know how that
happened...so if someone could PLEASE help me!! That
would be great...Thank you!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR ADVICE...I just wanted to add
something, I have a program called Adware...so doesnt
that check for Spyware? And we had WinMx..not Zazaa but
my sister removed the program...so by doing that does it
get rid of it totally or no?? I also enabled a firewall
on the internet connection and the local area
connection..so is that what you meant?? Thanks again for
your help...

AdAware will scan for spyware, and it's more novice friendly that SpyBot.
Use it! Or either, they are both good, and free (Thank you very much!).

WinMX and/or Kazaa are not your real problem (see below), tho they can
cause lots of problems if not used wisely! Also, they may be dependent on
the spyware, often removing the spyware will cause them to complain and
you'll need to do a reinstall (which puts the spyware back on your
machine). Best bet if you must: kazaa lite. no spyware, no ads, built-in
RIAA protection (but no garentees!). just google for it. And be warned
that P2P networks like kazaa are loaded w/ virus infected stuff, ALWAYS
scan everything you download from them. And if you download an infected
or bogus file, DELETE IT, don't continue to share it!

Now, the problem:

You computer is automatically connecting to the internet because you told
it that it could. Turn that off:

right-click IE icon on the desktop, choose properties. In the network tab
select your dial-up connection name in the list, then choose "never dial a
connection". click ok. now your machine will only dial out when you
explicitly double click on that dial-up's icon (I put a short-cut to mine
on the desktop so it's easy to get at).

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ADVICE ON THE SPYWARE...but I have
another problem...:(...when I right click on the Internet
Explorer icon...and go to the network tab..it doesnt give
me the option to choose to "never dial a connection",
which is weird because I have seen that before...SO now
what do I do??? And where is???

I AM REPLYING MY OWN MESSAGE..I JUST FOIND THE NETWORK
TAB ON THE INTERNET PROPERTIES...BUT WHEN I CHOSE THE
CONNECTION AND THEN CLICKED ON NEVER DIAL A
CONNECTION...IT WOULDNT CONNECT AT ALL!! SO I PUT IT ON
DEFAULT CONNECTION...WILL THAT SOLVE THE PROBLEM??? I AM
SO DUMB WITH THIS COMPUTER STUFF...:(

it will connect, but only when you specifically ask it to, by:

double-clicking on the dial-up connection's icon in the Network
Connections folder.

To make this easier, create a shortcut to that icon and place it on your
desktop, or in the Start menu. And if you like, assign a hot-key to that
shortcut, like ctlr-alt-I ("for Internet"). Then logging on is just a
keystroke away.
