I have a problem with my Internet connection, I have been
in contact with my Broadband suppler and they couldnt find
any problem, but they did replace my modem. Right the
problem is, my connection drops, usually after a reboot or
after my pc crashes, it will eventually come back, I have
a firewall, which I have disabled and the problem is still
there, so cant be firewall. All i get on a page is Page
not found, and when running OUtlook I get 'you are not
connected' any ideas please? Surley Broadband means your
connected all the time, therefore cant understand why this
is happening...
Many thanks
Jo
Thanks to Chesire Cat for your reply, have done that
several times and still not right.

(I've no idea what's causing you the problem.
Ignoring quotes, open a command prompt and type
in "ipconfig /release"
followed by "ipconfig /renew" to force the connection to
refresh itself.
Hopefully you'll get a new IP address from the ISP and
your connection will
run again.)

Is your IP Static or Dynamic? Have you setup you network
connection for your ethernet card? Do you have any Lights
on the modem that indicates you are recieving a Data
signal? Need more info. to be helpful

Everything is set up correctley, IP is static, set up
through ethernet card, all lights on the modem are lit. As
I said earlier technical support were baffled as I am
receiving signals to the modem, they had no idea what the
problem is. If i flick the switch on the wall and reset
the modem my connnection usually works after about 5
mins,to my mind not good enough. Have had a new IP and MAC
address and still the prob persists.

If everything was setup correctly then you would not have
a problem and you would be surfing the Net.
Have you been able to surf the Internet at all? Does this
phone line also receive calls? If so, are you using the
filters that came with the Modem? If not this could cause
a problems. What OS is on your PC? Lets assume the modem
is working correctly, then the configuration of the NIC is
not correct. When you did the "ipconfig /all" at the
command line was it the IP that the provider gave you. The
resason I ask is that W2K and XP will give you an auto
configured IP. Also if you have XP, Go to Start/ Help and
Support, click on Networking and the Web, then click on
Fixing networking or Web problems and the rum
the "Diagnose metwork configuration and run automated
networking test" and hope this helps.

I had this same problem, went thru Windows support and the problem was with the IP/TCIP Properties. They walked me thru a procedure to edit the registry by backing up the Winsock and then doing a configuration. Sorry but I forgot how I did it, it was 3:00AM. But sounds like the same problem I was having.
