I am having a problem with connecting to some sites that i select from my favorites list - but not all. This is a recent problem after, i think, downloading Office 2003 service pack 3 .When trying connect to a site i get a box telling me that There may be a problem with your "domain name server(DNS) configuaration".There are occasions when the box appears then so does the site i tried to connect to very shortly after .But not always and sometimes it requires several attempts to connect. The system is Vista Home Premium and has Eset nod32 Anti Virus,Windows Defender,Windows Firewall.Could it be that something in service pack three has cuased this problem or just coincidence.I did`nt have any problems before this. Thanks in advance for any help.

You could try uninstalling SP3 and see if it reverts to its old self. :)

Tbh Office 2003 SP3 shouldn't affect that.
I'd first check the ip settings (run "ipconfig /all" from a cmd prompt).
I'd check the ISPs service status.
Check the uptime of router / modem.
Perform a full virus and malware scan.

TBH there's loads of things it could be... try these and get back to us.

Thanks for the replies.

I have done a full scan and malware check and they are both fine.
Done a speed test -6621kbps download,371kbps upload.
Checked- ipconfig/all- but don`t know what i`m looking for or to put it right!
Service status is ok as far as i know.
The computer is a laptop using wireless.

Try resseting your router..This is normally the first place I start when having connection problems..Try tah and see what happens.. By reset I also mean actually unplug the power supply from the wall and leave it for a minute or two...

Just tried unplugging my router.Re-applied the power and tried to log on to my ISP (Plusnet) and got the message Cannot find www.plusnet using DNS.

Windows found a problem that cannot be repaired automatically.
Contact your Administrator or ISP for info to try and resolve this problem.
After about six attempts i managed to get back on line.

You can also try using new DNS servers temporarily to see if they are your problem (try http://www.opendns.com/ 208.67.222.222 / 208.67.220.220). Something similar happened to me last year and it was because my ISP's DNS servers were playing up for 48h.

I have contacted my ISP again and they gave me a series of numbers (for connection to their servers ?) and talked me through how to input them. This seemed to work at first.
The following day i had trouble again try to log on to the internet and i also have intermittent problems with some sites as well once you are connected.
I will contact my ISP and see what they have to say.
