Internet Connection not showing

if anyone could help me with this, it'd be great.

the other day my sister was having trouble getting on the
internet. I figure she probably messed somethin'
up...for some reason the internet connection options
aern't shoing in my Start bar. (you know, if you open
start menu, its right below control panel unless you
changed it)...and when I connect the speed thing that
says your speed/connection in the lower-right of the
screen (task manager?) won't show up. it was showing up
just fine like 2 days ago, so I don't know what
happened. when i make a new connection, and I do the
same name as oen of the ones I had was, it says its
already there, and its there in the "Internet" properties
under connections, but its not showing up anywhere else.

anyway, thanks for the help
 
Will:

Go to Network Connections and right click the device
responsible for your internet. Choose Properties. Make
sure the "Show Icon" box at the bottom is checked.

See if that helps.

If you are referring to the double monitor icon in the systray (by the
clock) then;
Mine was missing when I read your post, I went and unticked it, OKed, ticked
it, OKed and thiere it is. I often have to do this if I need the icon, just
a bug I suppose.

Under Taskbar Properties, do you have "Hide inactive icons" checked?
