internet connection interrupted during incoming telephone calls

i need to know why my bellsouth dsl internet connection is severely
interrupted when i receive incoming phone calls. i am using windows xp
system.

Adding to Norm Advice, There two possibilities in your case:
A... A bad Line or a bad Filter installed between your Router and the
Modem or to the wall, so try the splitter (Filter) with a new one. If that
didn't help then call your ISP and book a ticket with a Third Line help
Person not the first line help and tell them about these error.
B.... Bad Modem or installation settings not correct, so try to see the
settings correct or check with your ISP.

Check your DSL filters; one has probably gone bad. Be sure the phones are
all on the filters and not plugged directly into the DSL lines by mistake.

Otherwise check with your ISP; either the modem or the lines have a problem.
