Hi Newsgroup,

Did have an icon on my client machine under network connections for a dialup
internet connection from a host. Accidently deleted (somehow) the icon from
the folder. I've now tried everything to get it back from the network
wizard to reading previous news articles without success. Does any one know
what I should do? Given that everything else works just fine.

Thank you very much.

Regards,
Winux P

Thanks Ken,

Both client and host have XP Pro SP1, and all other up to date patches.
Just the two machines, dialup USB modem on the host (ICS configured) and all
works fine (client and host) when it comes to web and shared resources use.
I accidently deleted\removed the internet connection icon from the Network
Connections folder on the client machine and have been unable to get it
back. Mainly for the convienience on connecting and disconnecting the
modem. Hope this info helps....

Regards,
Winux P

What OS is the client?

What OS is the server or is it a router?

You can't delete the icon, something else in keeping it away. It's usually
one of these

1. The SSDP Discovery Service has been disabled on the client.

2. A firewall is blocking traffic between the client and host.

3. The "Internet Gateway Discovery & Control Client" has been unchecked in
network optional components.

4. The SSDP Discovery Service or the UPNP Device Host service has been
disabled on the host.
