Hi,
up to a few hours ago I could right click on the internet connection Icon in
the networking folder(XP Pro)and select status.
There I could see the connection"speed".
Now when I do that the window(popup?) that shows the information about that
connection appears and disappears too quick.

Nothing has been changed in an setting on the pc.

The router is seen by windows as an Internet Gateway because UPNP is enabled
and gateway detection(in Windows).
On the taskbar by the clock there is the Lan icon and the Internet
connection icon.
The Internet connection icon used to show the connection speed but just says
connected now.
Any ideas?

Just a guess as I tried to reproduce the scenario, you may be clicking away
from the window which make it disappear.
But in fact it is minimised on the Toolbar, did you checked there?.
Try this, after right click and selecting Status don't click anywhere, just
click on the window of the Connection, does it disappear?.
HTH.

Hi
Try to reboot the computer.
BTW. The connection speed as seen on this windows is Not a real measure of
the Speed. If knowing the speed is important to you you need to actually
measure it by doing filer transfer.
Jack (MVP-Networking).

If I click on it then it still does the vanishing act(a brief flash and
gone).
No, I am not clicking away from it and causing it to go.
There is no window to click on.
1, if I right click the icon then the small"window"where you can select
status pops up ok.
2, If I select status from that popup the the main "window for the
connection icon(where it shows bytes and speed(with a
globe)disappears...........

Also the connection speed used to be shown when the mouse pointer was over
the icon in the taskbar but now it just says connected.

Tried that.............no change.
Yes, I do know that does not show a real measure of speed.
I do not use it for that.
It's just so I can see a rough estimate of what the router connects at.

Try system restore to when things were okay, what your Anti-virus and
firewall arrangements?.
