Internet Connection got a mind of it's own

I have a strange problem, that when ever I open My Documents, My Pitures, My Music etc, or open the control panel. The internet connection dialog box appears as though I was connecting to the internet. I click on cancel then the choosen application opens example : My Documents, then the internet connection pops up again. I have found this very fustrating and any ideas how to stop this would be great

Check those folders for the existence of any internet shortcuts. If any are
found, move them to a different folder. Also, may want to change your
settings in Internet Options> Connection to "Never Dial." This should
eliminate spontaneous connections - connections will only be made when you
initiate them.
