Internet Connection Errors

Every time I dial-up the Internet, I have the same problem with Windows
2000: Shortly after I connect, a message appears that "SVCHost.ext has
generated errors" and will be closed.
As soon as this message appears, cut and paste no longer works and Microsoft
Office 2000 programs - Word and Excel - shut down after launching.
The only way to correct these problems is to reboot and stay off the
Internet.
I have tried everything I can think of to resolve this, from doing a clean
re-install of Windows 2000, Service Pack 4, to adding a virus checker and a
firewall. Still no luck.
Does anyoone have any suggestions?

You need to get the security patch from MS for the MS
Blaster worm & whilst you are at it - you may as well get
the other critical patches.

This error is caused by the RPC Buffer overflow flaw
(Hence SVCHost is affected) It may be that another unit
on your network may be infected, as you are stating that
you are behind a firewall. This may be providing cross
infection.

The symptoms you give are an exact replica of the reported
problems - you will also find that you can only open 1 IE
window - windows spawned for pop-ups etc cannot be acessed.
