Internet connection disconnects

Can anyone explain why my dial up Broadband interconnection repeatedly disconnects every 4 minutes & 54-58 seconds? I have checked the power management tabs in System's Device Manager & the DUN control does not have disconnect on idle enabled.

in Australia we used to have phones, that every 2 minutes would pulse the phone line and cause a disconnection.

the solution was to unplug the phone at the socket
