Hello Friend,
I am doing the administration of a Windows2000
network with single domain. No internet connection is
available in this domain controller. But we have a
Windows2000 professional machine which has a Lan
connection from ISP.This machine has two network
cards ,out of which one is connected to the domain and
other is to the isp.Our network includes all of the
microsoft platforms with static IP address. How i can
configure the remaining machines including the server to
connect to the internet at this condition?I know the
method of ICS.But we are prefering static ip address.
Please help me.Actually i want to get the internet
connection in my server from the connected client
Thanx in advance
Manu

Hi Manu.

Are your static address valid public IP addresses or are they private? If
they are valid public IP addresses you can enable IP forwarding on the
Windows 2000 Pro box with the Internet connection.

If the clients do NOT have valid public IP address you will need to use NAT
(Network Address Translation). Windows 2000 Professional offers ICS to
provide NAT. Other wise you could move your Internet connection of a
Windows 2000 Server and run RRAS and NAT and keep your static IP addresses
on the clients.
