I have 2 Dell PCs (XP home) networked by a 802.11b
wireless network. FThe network, file sharing, etc work
fine. The host PC is set up for internet conection shaing
and the dial up connection works fine. I cannot get the
client PC to see the shared internet conection - what am I
doing wrong? Running the network wizard on the client PC
looses the network connection :-(

Any help gratefully received.

On the client PC, tell the Wizard that it connects to the Internet
through another computer on the network.

Here are some test that should help find the problem:

1. On the host PC, right click the local area network connection and
click Status | Support | Details. It should show:

IP Address: 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: none
DNS Server = none

2. On the client PC, right click the local area network connection and
click Status | Support | Details. It should show:

IP Address: 192.168.0.x (1<x<255)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS Server = 192.168.0.1

3. If #1 and #2 are right, open a command prompt window on the client
and enter these lines. Each one should get four replies:

ping 192.168.0.1
ping 216.239.39.100
ping www.google.com

Thanks for replying.

1. (host) - all setting ok
2. (client) settings read: IP address 192.168.0.52
subnet mask 255.255.255.0 default gateway - none
dns server 192.152.81.1
