I'm running XP Home. I can only get the internet to work on the
Administrative account tab. Even though I have designated others as
"adminstrative" users (including myself) I can't get online. When I
downloaded a newer version of Explorer and tried to install it, it said I was
not permitted. I followed the advice of a previouse poster (right click on
"my computer" select "manage" then I had no "local users" to select.

I've tried calling my DSL provider, but they can't help. Any suggestions?

Try booting up in Safe Mode. Turn off all firewall functions as well.

Other than that, it sounds like you may have misconfigured software. Try
a sneakernet procedure and insert a CD with Mozilla's Firefox and
install it as an Administrative account (not Administrator). Sometimes
we accidentally horse up access rights to key directories. Make sure
your users are listed as owners of their directories (often happens when
files are plainly copied from one system to another).

Eric, I'm afraid I have no clue what Mozilla's Firefox is. I'm just a lay
person. Is there anything else you could suggest? I would be glad to grant
you access to fix it for me.
