Internet access on home network using Windows XP as
proxy. How can I get my Windows 2000 to see the Internet
through my Windows XP machine? I can fileshare and use
printer connected to my Windows XP machine but I can not
see the internet.

Hi

XP using ICS is a router not a proxy, there is a difference. Anyway on to
your problem, do you have a firewall installed on your ICS host (Zonealarm
by any chance)? If you do you will need to reduce your Internet Security
setting to Medium so the clients can get 'out'.

First Thanks for the replies,
I have tried all many different settings. I havge taken
out all firewalls. Still can not get through. I have
never had a problem with other windows prograns Win95,
Win98, etc. It is only with the Windows 200o machine. I
thought I might have read somewhere that there is a
compatability problem between the 2 systems, I do not
remember. This is just bugging me.
Thanks

Hi

Have you uninstalled your firewall from the ICS host? Some firewalls still
interfere with ICS even if they are disabled. I would also remove the
firewalls from your clients so that it causes no problems during set-up,
you can add them back later. Can you 'ping' any sites on the internet?

Before we go through the diagnostics can you confirm, by checking this
setup http://snipurl.com/3f41 , that you have your system set-up correctly?
