Internet access on Presario 2500 laptop

I have pretty much the same problem as Mark and Paul.
There are two users on this laptop. It has been
reformated from the System Recovery disks. It runs
Windows XP for home. One user can get on the internet,
one can't get the modem to dial. I have run the trouble
shooter, checked in Device Manager for conflicts,
reloaded MSN 8 from disk, added a line to the Regedit
(suggested by the help folks at HP), and set up a new
user account. Nothing so far has gotten anyone but me
access to the internet. Can anyone make another
suggestion for something to try?

Normally, a Guest user cannot dial to internet. This is by design. However,
a limited user can dial, if you have kept a dial-up connection open.
(available for all users)

try checking your users permissions admin and so on

thats how i fixed mine with the same problem
