Hi,

I have just been given control of a new site and after
looking at there setup I have found that they are using
RRAS to access the Internet.

Ports have been opened for Internet, Email and OWA but
they have no firewall enabled anywhere, is RRAS a secure
enough way of preventing any type of hacking or should
there be a better way of allowing ports to be available.

Thanks

Ray

When RRAS VPN server is configured using "Configuration wizard" then RRAS
places filters on the public adapter to block all but few selected type of
traffic like pptp, l2tp etc.
1.. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and
then click Routing and RAS Admin.
2.. Double-click IP Routing, click Summary, and then right-click the
public interface
3.. Click Configure Interface, click Input Filters
And see various filters you have. That's one way of protecting your server.

Second you can have basic firewall provided as part of NAT functionality.
