Hope this is the correct forum to ask this.

But some links/shortcuts I go to open in a NEW instance of Internet
Explorer.
Some open in a new Tab

Both of these options is OK as I frequently am checking multiple sites for
info.

But, some links/shortcuts just simply overwrite the existing instance of IE.
Closing the previously open tab and replacing it with the new page I wanted
to view.

So...my question is.
How can I ALWAYS make a link or shortcut open in a new Tab or a new instance
of IE and not remove a window or page I want to return to?

please and thank you.

if there is a better forum for this question, please advise

To get a new tab press 'Ctrl' when clicking on a link .

ah
the press Control when clicking on a link was the answer I was hoping for.

I may not have explained myself clearly enough.
For instance.
If in ebay, looking at something I have for sale, I then wanted to go to
Paypal to pay for it, the ebay page would close and then PayPal site would
come up.
back button would NOT return it.
That instance of IE now only had one page, the PayPal page.

So what I was asking was, that if I'm looking at a IE page, and now want to
ALSO open another page to compare products or whatever, that it would not
remove the origianal page but add a new tab.
but thank you for the ctrl hint

Some of it is the HTML and IE is just following instructions e.g.:

<a href=www.somesite.com target="_blank">

Where target="_blank" instructs IE to open the link in a new window.

You can go to Internet Options in the Control Panel (classic view) and under
the General tab find the Tab settings and adjust how you want the tabs to
behave.

Right-click on *any* regular link and select "Open in New Tab". Also, many
wheel mouses enable you to click straight down on the wheel [as if the wheel
were a middle button]. If you do that over a link it is the same as
right-clicking and selecting "Open in New Tab".
