Internal USB

I have a mitsumi 7 in 1 card reader installed into an
internal usb port. My system interprets this device as a
temp device and gives me the safely remove hardware
icon. If I stop this then my device disappears. Is
there anyway to make windows xp think this device is
permanent.
 
I know that most USB devices are Hot-Swap. That is to say that you can
connect/disconnect them with out turning the power off.
