I did an on-line security test and was told that my "internal" IP address was
showing but that it shouldn't. How can I configure XP Pro (svce pack 2) to
make it hidden?

Thanks, but I'm on AOL, so apparently am already using a proxy server...or so
the test told me. It could see an address starting with 192 (which it said
was ok to show) and another one starting with 172 (which it said was not ok
to show) so I'm a bit lost.

Interesting. The 172 block belongs to Central Systems Design Activity, Army
Materiel Command, St. Louis, MO.

Ouch - just ran the test again at www.auditmypc.com and it said -

Notice! Your Private IP is 172.200.30.65 and unlike your
external IP of 195.93.21.70, this should be hidden!
Patch software found here & see our Internal IP page.

and I'm no where near the US of A!

Both of those IP addresses are registered to AOL.
The 195 address is AOL in England.

Where are you running this test?

Actually, ip getting displayed doesnt exactly mean you are vulnerable or
not secure or u might get hacked. and since urs is AOL ur ip has a dynamic
change after every interval basically its nothing to worry about. yeah they
might be tryin to get u into buying something.
