When I sort my files as "order by date" on a DOS prompt,
it works only for that time, but when I close my DOS
prompt and open it again and take directory of files, the
files are not in the order which I previously set as
(order by date),what should I do if I need prviously
order ?

Hi Sohail,

What you see is normal and sorting at a command prompt has always worked
this way. You do not get a permanent sort of the files.

Just noticed your post. Is there a way to get permanent
file sorting through W2K?

Thanks
