Hi:

Can you explain a little more in detail your problem? The media used is a
DVD or a CDrom?

That may help to give you a troubleshooting.

Ok here it goes I have a internal dvd/cdrom drive for my laptop and when i
has a severe crash I decided to just reformat the hard drive and install a
fresh copy of windows xp home after i reinstalled i went to the various
sites and got back the software that i had before. I downloaded Powerdvd 6 or
7 don't remember which one it was but after all was siad and done i was
unable to play dvd's, the drive is a HT-DT-ST CDRW/DVD GCC-4243N I have been
to the LG site to make sure the firmware is up to date and it is i also have
run driver updates for it but it still will not read dvd I have downloaded
codec packs and players with no avail, I have no idea what is going on the
device manager tells me the drive is working properly but it is not its been
tested and it shows that it is dvd read capable but it won't read on this
laptop got any ideas

Hi:

If you can read and access the files on a DVD media, and have the latest
version of the firmware for your LG DVD, I understand that it could be a
software problem. Try with another sofware other than Powerdvd. Did you got
a copy of any DVD software with your laptop? Do you gt any error comming
from Powerdvd, when try to play the DVD?. I am sorry I can not be more
helpfull.
