Hi,

When setting up a 2000 server, I decided to name the internal domain
different than the Company's external domain. What I would like to choose is
something like "bighall.com" instead of "local.com". If I choose,
"bighall.com" and if there exists an Internet domain name out there with
that name, will there be some type of conflict?

Thanks
Steve

If you maintain a separate DNS servers then no, there won't be any conflict,
jut that your internal DNS servers will answer for queries in bighal.com
domain to your internal clients. In your place I would rather chose
company.local or ad.company.com or something, that you can control.

Ditto, use something that cannot be on the Internet and you will be fine. My
Internal domain name actually is a real domain on the internet but luckily
we never need to go there so we do not have issues and our email is on a
different domain. If you something like .local then you won't have issues
and no one on your internal network will typically see this .local extension
anywhere.....
