I have an All-in-Wonder 128 Pro in a home built system running Windows
XP. The most current driver for the adapter is installed.

Intermittently -- but more frequently of late -- I have a problem when
I try to put the system into standby mode: the display shuts off but
the machine does not power down. Once this happens it's dead, and only
a cold boot will restore it.

I have a couple of questions, apart from the obvious "What is
happening at how can I fix it?"

If the problem cannot be fixed, is it likely to go away if I replace
this card with a more modern All-in-Wonder card?

.... is it likely to go away if I replace this card with a more modern
card of some other brand?

Tom:

I have the same problem with both standby and shutdown.
I have found that it only happens after I have used the TV app in Multi
Media Center. I have no solution for the problem except to use another app
for TV.

If you have used a different version of MMC and this does not happen, I
would suggest you go back to that version.
I am using version 9.08.

Hope this at least shines some light on the problem for you.

Regards,

Paul

'fraid not. I don't think I have ever used an earlier version of the
driver with Windows XP; my philosophy regarding drivers is to leave
well enough alone, and I only installed this one when I migrated to XP
and found that my previous driver didn't work. In any case, there has
been no change in the system to relate to the recent increase in
problems.

As far as MMC is concerned, I don't watch TV much any more, so I
rarely use it. A couple of months ago the video feed's sound went out
(other sound sources are fine), and I haven't gotten around to
plugging in my real TV to see whether the problem is in the cable
service or something in the computer!
