Hi ,

I have an Gigabyte 8KNXP MB with my OS installed on a SATA disk connected to
the integrated Silicon Image 3112 controller.

I have a little problem in that sometimes the Sil controller does not
recognise that it has any disks connected during a cold boot so my system
doesn't go anywhere.

The only solution I've found is to disconnect the data cables for the disks
and reconnect them (I don't touch the power cables) and then it works again.

Has anybody else experienced this or something similar? (and what was your
solution)

Personally I find the SATA data connectors somehat flimsy compared to the
old PATA connectors.

AND they are brittle also, I know!
