Intermittent memory error - I've tried everything!

Hi - for a short while now, I am receiving the following error message when I
try to access SOME web sites:

The instruction at “0x7c901010†referenced memory at “0xxxxxxx1câ€. The
memory could not be “readâ€.

The online crash analysis says it could be IE add-ons, but I've gone through
those and am pretty sure I've covered the enabled and disabled ones. I've
updated whatever ActiveX controls available and installed any available
Microsoft updates, patches, etc. I've run McAfee, SpyBot, Ad-Aware,
Microsoft Anti-Spyware - everything I can think of... In case it matters, I
am using Windows XP Professional and I think I have SP2 installed (newer
laptop and can't remember if I installed SP1, SP2 or both, but
updates/patches I've done have been for SP2).

This is REALLY frustrating. Has anyone encountered this and/or does anyone
know a "fix" for this issue? I really appreciate any assistance. Thank you!

I think most likely you have had some spyware that's been removed but has
left behind something broken. It is not impossible that it's a hardware
error but unlikely I think since it only happens intermittently.

Also, things like Google toolbar can cause the same problem. Have you been
to tools>manage add ons and tried disabling everything then restoring them
one at a time?

Also, see if you can find an example of a website that does this, there may
be a clue in there. There has been a recent update to Sun's Java machine
that you should get if you can, www.java.com may help there.

Thanks. I haven't disabled and re-enabled add-ons, so I'll try that. I DID
think I accidentally removed something "Sun," but when I've gone to the site,
there doesn't appear to be any kind of troubleshooting feature where it
determines what could be the issue. I really wasn't sure what I should
download - and after searching around the site a bit, I wondered if whatever
I may have removed was something that was installed on my computer when I got
it - and it's something I can't just download. I don't know...

One more thing...I can't actually open the Sun Java Console...so that's why I
am wondering if I deleted something critical and don't know how to get it
back!
