Hello,

I have Windows 2000 Advanced Server that continuously loses the
connection to Internet during short spaces of time.

I have prepared screenshots that help to understand what I mean:

http://www.sunglowal.com/capturas

I have verified network interfaces, TCP/IP configuration... and
everything seems to be correct.

As can be observed in one of the screenshots, the connection appears
active for more than 3 days, reason why I think the problem could be
located in some other element of the network, like cables, router,
firewall...

I will thank very much any comment or suggestion that can help me to
solve the problem.

Greetings.

Is this the only machine on the network? Did it EVER work correctly, iow,
is this a recently developed problem? Do other machines work ok? IOW, is
this localized to this machine ONLY, or does it affect the network broadly?

It would help to provide more details on the network, model of router, etc.,
you've basically provided nothing from which to go on. For example, I know
a Linksys BEFCMU10 v2 router is notorious for dropped connections, but I
wouldn't even know to suggest it without you indicating you had that piece
of equipment. Heck, you haven't even told us if this is wired or wireless!
Ppl can't help if you don't provide much more detail. The more you specify,
the more likely someone will spot a problem.

Jim

Hello Jim,

The machine has worked correctly during 2 years and the problem began 1
week ago, approximately.

The machine is housed in a Data Center from a telecom supplier (wired
network), which has said today that they have detected a failure in a
switch that interconnects our server with Internet. The problem seems
to be the switch negotiated 100 half instead of 100 full.

Now the connection seems to work properly, but I've detect that
nslookup doesn't works:

DNS request timed out.
timeout was 2 seconds.
Blah blah...
Server: UnKnown
Address: 194.224.52.36

What do you think?

Thanks in advance.

I think you need to go back to them and ask what they did that might
cause this behavior.
