I click to capture video, after the video setting page this is the message I
receive and cannot go any further.

Can anyone help?

Toby,

I'm not the original author, but I am experiencing the same problem.
My setup is an analog camcorder (SharpE650U) being fed through a
Belkin Videobus II into the USB port in my Dell 3.0 GHz (XP SP-2)
computer. I am trying to capture to a new 7200RPM drive with no
applications on it, which is configured as the slave to the boot drive
on the primary channel. Both drives are operating in UDMA Mode 5.

I was thinking that I may have too many USB devices, and that the
"methods" written into their drivers might be competing for the bus
resources??? (I'm obviously not an object-oriented programmer.)

The only other thing I can think of is the Videobus II might be too
slow - it is close to five years old, an in fact may be a USB-1 device
- but I can't think of how that could affect the number of methods
that can fire events.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help.

This happens with MPEG2 clips. Convert your MPEG2 clips into WMV using
Windows Media Encoder and use those in Movie Maker.

Rehan,

Thank you for your answer. The MPEG2 problem is well documented.
However my case involves capturing analog video - there is no file
type.

Am I missing something?

Hello there,

Go to my website and click on GREAT LINKS > KNOWLEDGE BASE > VIDEO HELP and
there you will find perhaps the best resource anywhere on the net....you feed
in what you want and it gives links to what you need. Take note though,
converting from one compressed format to another...MPeg to WMV is not a good
idea and will almost certainly involve some loss of quality. If your intent is
to edit the file before saving back to camera or creating a DVD your best
option is to convert the file to DV-AVI, edit it in Movie Maker or whatever and
then create the final video....
