Hi
I'm haing a problem with my Linksys router.
I got hi speed internet, and i have a router which i purchased and had
installed at the same time as the internet by the same company.
The internt is working only on this computer--- the second port in the
router--- all the rest of the ports are used up, but none of them seem
to work but port number 2...
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated
Thanks!

When the router is connected to either a DSL or cable modem,
you have to initialize the router. Go to www.linksys.com
and follow the instructions for setting up the router and
then be sure to follow the security procedures.
You did not say whether it is a wired or wireless [wifi]
router.;

There are ways to limit the number of computers connected. On my
router, you can restrict the addresses used for DHCP (dynamic host
control protocol). DHCP gives an unroutable LAN address, like
192.168.2.3, to your computer. For example, on my non-Linksys router,
I can set the first DHCP address given, to 192.168.2.3 and tell
the router to give out no more than 4 addresses, starting with
that address. So the only addresses the router could give to my
local computers, would be:

192.168.2.3
192.168.2.4
192.168.2.5
192.168.2.6

I'm not guaranteeing that is the problem, but if you go through
the setup pages for the web based setup for your Linksys router,
you're going to find the problem pretty quickly. Since one port
works, you aren't far from having a setup that works on all
the ports.

The router has eben working fine for a few months.
As for wired or wireless, the router is connected to a satelite on my
house, and frmo the satelite to the station, it is wireless...

Is it wireless from the router to your computer?
