Hello,

When i connect to the internet (46.6 Kb/s) everything is
fine initially, but after about 5 mins my computer begins
to send huge amount of data over the network (15 kb/s)
and what i receive is vastly reduced as a consequence.

I haven't a clue what it is sending, so if anyone knows
how i can trace what is being sent or help stop this
please contact me.

Neil

p.s. i thought it was to do with messenger spam but i'm
not too sure

You're probably spraying the world with viruses or worms.

1) Download the latest virus definitions from your AV provider. Disconnect
from the Internet and run a comprehensive scan.

2) Download, install and enable a firewall: ZoneAlarm free edition
(www.zonelabs.com), kerio.com (free: www.kerio.com) , or enable the XP
firewall if appropriate (see help in XP).

3) visit www.microsoft.com/windowsupdate and install all "critical
updates", at least. Make that site your homepage.

It's nothing to do with Messenger spam.
