Intellitype/Intellimouse updates

Although version 5.5 is listed there, it's not the latest
version. Version 6.2 was in Vista, but it was 'updated' to
version 6.1 in both my Vista x86 & x64 installations and Win
XP & x64. I haven't seen the full download of either 6.1 or
6.2 yet.

How do you know what version you have installed? I just have the standard
mouse dialogue in Control Panel, and not the Intellimouse one with all the
extra stuff.

I seem to have updates for Intellimouse in the Windows Update log though,
but I still don't have the dialogue which lets you set the functions of the
extra buttons, and nor do I have the sideways scrolling that my mouse has.

I look at the driver details of the mouse properties and it
lists the versions for each of the drivers. Point32.sys is
version 6.10.155.0 dated 11/7/2006. I didn't say it
installed all the bells and whistles.
 
Are the older drivers the cause of my screen saver not working? I'm guessing
so because when I unplug the wireless transmitter, the screen saver works.
What puzzles me though is that if I'm in the login screen, the screen saver
works even if the wireless transmitter is plugged in.
 
If your transmitter as an active light on it you'll notice that just before
the logon screen it goes off temporarily, until the system boots further. I
have a Desktop 6000 and that's what it does. If I'm at the logon screen
long enough then my monitor will be turned off. None of the currently
available drivers for the MS Wireless mouses seem to allow the system to go
to sleep automatically. Here's hoping it's resolved with the drivers to be
released in December. I can put my computer to sleep manually but not on a
schedule for the power profiles.
