IntelliPoint Mouse

I just got a new computer with XP and have a USB
Microsoft IntelliPoint 4.0 optical mouse from my old
computer. The mouse seems to work ok on XP except every
so often I get a chime and the mouse stops working for
about 4 seconds and then I get another chime and it
starts working again. Does anyone know what is wrong or
do I need a XP driver for it or something? I can't seem
to find a XP driver for a Intellipoint 4.0 Mouse.

if you have the driver cd that came with it, uninstall

the mouse completely. shut comp down, start it back up
and install the drivers. windows should recognize it
anyway.

oh, i forgot, make sure your drivers for the usb ports

are up to date also. go to the motherboard website if
they came with it. or wherever it came from.
