Microsoft:

Intellipoint Version 5.0 is a major step backward. I
can't live without my Shift and Control key button
assignments...

The new Intellimouse Software ver. 5.0 has removed
scroll "one screen" at a time as well as many side button
mouse assignments, such as shift, space, delete, etc

Just so you MS folks are aware, here's a very small
sampling of what is now missing:

Shift (Large Thumb Button) + Click on a link in IE =
open link in new window
Shift + Scroll in IE = Back & Forward
Shift + Close a window to close it and its parents
Click, Shift + Click to select a range of text or items
Control (Small Thumb Button) + Scroll = Zoom In/Out

I used to be able to do all of this with my mouse, but
with the 5.0 downgrade I can't anymore.

PLEASE bring back this functionality!

Yes, I was pretty amazed when I installed version 5.0. I have since
gone back to 4.12 and have all of the features back. I sure hope MS
listens to their customers and will return this missing features.

You might actually want to send this to MS. This is a peer-to-peer group, so
you aren't talking to MS, you're just talking to other users.

I so liked that keystroke binds for the thumb buttons to
any key press and even shift + key ... allows 5 button
mice in games which dont nativly support 5 button mice.

I tried a logitech mouse MX500 but the mouse software from
logitech only allowed function key binds and not keyboard
wide keystroke so Microsoft and Intellipoint 4.0 won.

Just bring it back please ...

I too found that I had to go back to 4.12 to gain functions especially
the ability to use the wheel fro scrolling in Lotus 123. Newer is not
always better.
