Intellimouse Optical - weird problem

My pointer disappears but only from some apps. Like right now, it's
working fine in OE but if I "alt tab" to the desktop, it becomes invisible.
I think it's still working since when I move it, icons will highlight when
I pass over them.

It's not consistent either. Sometimes it will be fine on desktop and
disappear in another app. If I close whatever app it's disappearing from
and reopen it, then it's usually back. Sometimes when it disappears from
the desktop, it will still appear along the taskbar or in the start menu.

I had this type of problem before. Update the video card drivers and the
motherboard AGP port drivers, which helped for me.

I just update my ATI 9000 drivers a couple of days ago but it didn't help.
Someone mentioned lowering the acceleration, so I'll give that a try.

Hi, Walt!
The MS IntelliMouse software has an option to hide pointer during
typing.
Could this be the reason?
