intellimouse 4.0

i bought this mouse to play games with, as it has several
buttons.
I can not reassign extra buttons/functions in a game menu
at all.
have tried older driver(4.1) but extra
buttons/functions,wont work at all then.
All extra buttons/functions are internet browser commands
only!
can someone help?

It's up to the game developer to make those extra buttons available.
I remember when I bought my first 3 button mouse and I couldn't use
the middle one for nearly a year :-(
Some games do support more buttons, Star Trek Elite Force 2 was
recently patched to use button 4 and 5 on my mouse.
You can have this problem with joystick buttons also.
