Hi, I'm using an Intel P4 3.2GHz Extreme Edition, but the
Device Manager and a number of other utilities are
listing this as a P4 3.2GHz with no mention of it being
EE. Futhermore, utilities such as 3DMark03, which list
the various processor caches, don't mention the Level 3
cache. Is this normal for the Extreme Edition, or have I
got something set up incorrectly? Thanks.

It could be that the utilities are not up to date for the EE P4s.

These P4s have a bigger in-chip cache and allow for HT.

Is your BIOS the latest?

Hi George,

As Yves has already suggested, it's likely that the utilities you're using
simply don't look for the additional cache. The 2MB of extra cache on the EE
part is Level 3 cache - many tools simply look for L1 and L2.
Some newer or more thorough diagnostic tools should spot it; try SiSoft
Sandra (www.sisoftware.co.uk) - its hardware reporting is pretty thorough,
although the "benchmark" modes are pretty inaccurate. Alternatively, your
BIOS should report the extra cache - have you updated to the latest BIOS
version, to make sure that it includes EE support?

Hope this helps.
