I'm curious. My friend just bought the Acer Travelmate 8204, or
somethin like that, with the new intel chip in it. It is dual core, is
it not? Doesn't this make it 64-bit technically, but currently it is
only running 32-bit stuff? But, we both play Half-Life 2 based games,
and Valve, the company who made them recently released 64-bit versions
of their games. Wouldn't he be able to use the 64-bit versions? Some
clarification would be appreciated, thanks.

Intel laptops are 32b, core duo is...a dual core product. I suggest
downloading everest and running it on your friend's computer:

Erm, you don't get 64bit just by adding two 32bit cores together. Each
core must be capable of 64bit by itself.

Even if it would be 64bit capable (which this particular CPU is not, AMD
64 would be your choice for that), you would still need windows
supporting 64 bit processing, that you need to purchase separately.
