Integrated SP1 problem

Several weeks ago I installed Vista Ultimate (from Technet) with the SP1 beta
integrated. Now I have later version of SP1 in the form of a stand-alone
installer. When I try to install it I get a message saying that SP1 is
already installed. How can I install the later version of the service pack?
I'd prefer not to do a complete reinstall from my original Vista non-SP disk.

Thanks to all.

Dear Shawn,

Unfortunately when the service pack has been installed as a an integrated
package with the OS it is impossible (so far as I can tell) to uninstall it.
It's not even listed as an update in the "update history," nor is it an item
in Control Panel/Programs.

I am hoping that there are a couple of registry keys which can be massaged
to fool the later version of the service pack.

Thanks so much for your suggestion.

Hi formerprof,

Unfortunately you will have no choice but to reinstall RTM from scratch
before applying the later RC of SP1. There is no way to uninstall SP1 from
an integrated media install.

Thank you, Jane. I was hoping to overwrite the earlier service pack, given
that it can't in fact be uninstalled. There must be a registry key or keys
which tells the stand alone SP installer that SP1 is already present. If I
could find those I might be able to avoid the full reinstall. If any one
knows of those I'd be grateful for the information.

Rumor has it that the final service pack version will be distributed next
week.

All good wishes.
