Hello all;

I'm running Windows 2000 Server SP4 on a Dell PowerEdge 2650 2U. I have 1
domain and 3 Domain Controllers (2 onsite and 1 remote site). I have two
subnets. My DNS onsite is the Primary and the DNS server at the remote site
is currently set as secondary. Which is best for providing up-to-date
replication of the DNS - Integrated or Secondary? I'm confused on which one
I should be using at the remote site.

Thanks for your help.

Default AD zones expire in one day so if the link goes down to the secondary
for more than one day the zone will expire and you will lose resolution to
that zone. If the zone is AD integrated then the DC at the remote site is
the MNAME or master of that zone so if the link goes down the records wil
stay until they are scavenged or updated.

I would use AD integrated myself.

Thanks Kevin. I appreciate the help. Currently our remote DNS is set for
forward, but I had doubts it was replicating properly, and we do lose
connections to the site from time to time. Integrated it is!

thanks again.
