insuffiecent memory

I have have been making slideshows of the pictures from my vacation. I
normally never have this kind of problem with WMM. I have done some projects
that are way more complicated than this-ie. pictures and video.
I have broken the project down into about 20 different slide shows. The
first one had about over 200 pictures. I had problems saving it. It was all
Jpegs. I did some research and converted the Jpegs to Bitmap-that seemed to
solve the problem.
As I did each slide show, WMM starts getting slower and slower. It takes
a long time to import the pictures. It takes a long time to place the
picture on the storyboard sometimes-then a message will pop up saying that it
has completed the task.
My last slideshow is only about 30 pictures. It tells me I have
insuffienct memory when I try to save the project. (Then, the project ends
up appearing in my My Videos folder). I restarted WMM and was able to save
the project. Now, when I try to save it to my computer it says it has
insuffiecent memory to perform the task or something like that. (I have
tried saving ti as best option for playback on my computer and as dv-ave, and
I get the same error.) WMM is the only application I have running. I have
plenty of room on the hard drive. I am not having problems when I surf the
net. How can I resolve this issue quickly? Do I really need more RAM? If
that is the problem, I have no problem getting more RAM. But I have more
slideshows to make and I have to show them at a party tomorrow night so I
need to have this problem fixed quickly.
I am at work right now and I am talking about my home computer so I can't
tell you any more details other than it is a Gateway computer that I got last
year.

This sounds like resource issues...more RAM
would certainly be worth a try. I don't know how
much you have but 2 GBs should make an
improvement.

Increasing the size of your Virtual Memory
Paging File may help also. The following article

Running Disk Cleanup, Error Checking and

Thanks, John. I started running a defrag before I went to bed. When I got
up this morning it was only at 35%.
I found that article about the Virtual Memory paging file after I got to
work today. Does anyone know if doing that speeds things up so i wouldn't
need the extra RAM? I am really pressured for time right now.

You didn't mention running Disk Cleanup...
that can help free up some memory
if you have lots of temp files.

If Defrag is not running correctly you
may have system issues that are beyond
the scope of this newsgroup.

Increasing the size of your paging file
may help but probably won't be significant.
Installing more RAM would probably be
worth the effort and expense but if you
have system issues you will still need to
correct them.

Maybe the following will help for now...

Before opening Movie Maker...disconnect
from the net, close all programs...especially
virus scanners.
