Please Help Me!!

When I type in my password on the initial start up of
Windows 2000, a box pops up that says something to the
effect of "insufficient system resources" and then logs me
on using a default profile. I still have access to my
files and the internet, but when I want to run certain
programs, my computer does not respond and I have to
manually end the task.

My question is: What do I have to do in order for the
computer to recognize that I do have sufficient system
resources? I checked my hard drive space, and that's fine.
What else could it be!

Thanks,

Melody

By chance did you recently put permissions on the hard drive? If so, you
may have accidently made it too secure where the swap file can't be created.

The only thing that i did was install my new HP printer
last night. i tried to do it two months ago without any
success because for some reason or another, my computer
did not recognize it as a "plug and play" item. I tried
last night and it worked! Then this morning, when I tried
to log on, it gave me that error message.

Melody, i have seen what you descrbe. Some of the fancier Hp machines check
for Memory, CPU, even Service pack revision. Bit in my case, i was able to
check the box to ignore it, and the printer still worked.

Would you tell us:

How Much Ram you have, what is the make and speed of your processor, and
Exactly what model HP printer. and what service pack are you running?

Melody to really help, can you give some background on your computer,
please.
CPU
RAM
Hardware, software, etc.

Before doing anything it's best to know what wer'e working with.
