I have had a PC (one of two) on a temporary network with a DC controller.
Both PC's are now back in peer to peer mode.
On one of the PC's I cannot change the IP address as I do not have enough
rights and I need to contact my administrator (me). I have tried creating
other admins, all with the same result, neither will it work with the built
in administrator's account.
I don't know if this problem existed before the promotion but it does now.
TIA

Hmmm you might have some wacky System Policies you pushed down or local
policies that were modified? Either way, you really don't have Admin rights
it seems.

What Server? 2003? 2000? Are you in Enterprise Admins? Make sure you have
a domain account in the domain admins group. Be sure on the local machine
that DOmain Admins are part of Administrators local group.

Without much more information - we can't help. Way to vague.

Hi Flack,

Server, DC? At the moment, none. Just using an NT4 box as a file server.
(Been this way for two years) which all the PCs connect to via a UNC link.
I only discovered the problem when I went into the admin account on the WS
to change the DNS settings to reflect the new domain controller I was
setting up. (WS2003). This applet hasn't been used since the day it was set
up, all IP addresses being manually configured.
The workstation only has four user accounts on it, three of which are
limited. I've scanned for nasties and found nothing and also wound it back
to last November (SR) without success and tried the built in Admin account
with the same result. (insufficient rights)
'Tis a mystery.

Many thanks for your reply.
