On selecting recalculation, the file hangs and you have to
crash out. Receive message:
"The instruction at "0x3067ef18" referenced memory
at "0x01b50022". The memory could not be read.
What tools are available to diagnose how to "fix" this ?

Janet,

I suggest you try the following (but make sure you have created a back-up
first):

- Save the file as filetype webpage (html)
- close and reopen the html file
- save-as normal excel workbook

Often if the spreadsheet is corrupt, you will notice a dramatic reduction in
size WITH ALL data still being present.

If the spreadsheet has any VBA code, you should download Rob Bovey's VBA
code cleaner. You can find it here:
http://www.appspro.com/utilities/Cleaner.asp

Running the code cleaner will often signficantly reduce your file size.

Let us know how it works out.

Best regards
Kevin

Kevin,

Thanks for your note. I tried this, however receive a new
message as follows upon saving as html.

" The instruction at "0x30681bb9" referenced memory
at "0xc00500b3". The memory cannot be read"

There is no VB in this file.

Kind regads

Janet,

Send me your file and I will see if I have any luck with it. If I manage to
slay the dragon, I will send the revised copy back. If not, I will let you
know.

(e-mail address removed)

Best regards,
Kevin

Thanks so much for the offer, but it's coy confidential.
Will have to escalate it further with IT.
Cheers

Janet,

Okay, understood. Hope your take-over of Disney is successful! <wry grin>

Good luck.

Best regards,
Kevin
