I formatted my HDD (stupidly I know). When I tried to
reinstall xp home setup couldn't access the drive. It is
recognisable in the bios setup though. Can this be
rectified, or do I need another HDD. If I do need a new
one for xp to intall onto, is there anyway I can still
use the old one as a slave?

Please help.

Kieron,

You don't say what the make and model of your hard drive
is. Is it a SATA or IDE?

or which OS you used to format the hard-drive.

XP is a 32 or 64 bit system, if you formatted in 16 bit, xp will not see it

Hi,
I'm not quite sure, but maybe I'm having the same
problems. I'm using xp, and have a 200 GB WD harddrive
(IDE, internal), which was splited into 2 c, and d. After
reinstalling windows xp to fix my ie6 problem, windows
now recognises driver c only. Although i can still see
driver D on "My Computer", I cannot read any files from
it. Attempt to write in that driver gave error message :"
Write delayed failed". Western Digital recognised the
problem, but couldn't give any solution. Microsoft
support asked me to disable cache writing, but windows xp
prevents me from doing so. Please help.
Thank you very much.

Ok,

I used xp to format the drive (as part of a re-install)
and it is IDE. Autodetect in bios shows the drive as
there and gets the capacity correct. Please help, e-mail
me if you wish.
