instant messenger

Hi. I am a new user and need assistance. This my seem like an insignificant question for many. However, I could use your assistance.

I have an Optimum Online email account. However, I cannot use Instant Messenger as the message displayed is that MY Contacts are not on line. When they try to send an instant message to me, they get a message that my account is not valid or setup.

Is this because it is an optimum online email account?

How do I correct this as it keeps referring me to my read message s(Inbbox) abd select verify. I never received such a message. Only a message from Optimum online advising that my email account is complet.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

You have JUST an Optimum online email account or they are your Internet
Service Provider?

If they are just your email provider - I have no idea what that would have
to do with instant messaging.
If they are your provider - their page doesn;t say they block any
messengers..

Which Instant Messenger are you using? Yahoo? MSN? ICQ? etc etc....

Hi Shenan,

Thanks for the input. I did end up doing a web search for net passport member services and then followed their instructions to edit my profile/email address.

They they sent me an email to verify. Once I did this, I was able to avoid the "verify your email address" message.

However, I cannot test this as the party I am attenpting to contavt doesn't seem to have a net passport.

Could I ask a favor of you and have you attempt to send me an instant message tomorrow or at your conveience. It would be appreciated.
