Hello,

If you are not receiving instant messages in MSN Messenger, one or more of the following conditions may be true

- The computer is not connected to the Internet.
- The contact you expect an instant message from is not in your contact list.
- The "All others "option is listed in the "My Block List" on the "Privacy" tab.

To resolve the issue, try the following:
1. Visit http://www.msn.com or another website to determine if the
computer is connected to the Internet.
2. Determine if the contact is in the "My Block List":

a. From the main Messenger window, on the "Tools" menu, click "Options".

b. On the "Privacy" tab, determine if the contact is in the "My Block List".

c. If the contact is blocked, select his or her name in the "My Block List", click "Allow", and then click "OK".

3. Clear the "Only people on my Allow List can see my status and send me messages "check box

a. From the main Messenger window, on the "Tools" menu, click "Options".

b. On the "Privacy" tab, clear the "Only people on my Allow List can see my status and send me messages" check box.

c. Click "OK".

Note Contacts that are not listed in the "My Allow List" are
automatically blocked from sending you messages. If someone who is not
in your contact list tries to send you a message, a dialog box appears
prompting you to choose if you want to add that person to your contact
list. Unless you agree to allow the person to send you an instant
message, you will not receive the instant message.
