Greetings Ron,
Which 'instant messages' are you referring to? If you mean messages that are coming up with
"Messenger Service", there is no 'Send' button. You can however send one back, you can use
the "net send" command to send these messages. To do so, click the Start button, then click
Run, and enter:
net send computername themessage
Where the computername is the computer name of the person you're sending to, and themessage
is the message you want to send.
If you want an interface to do all this, check out Lantalk XP:
http://www.lantalk.net
You can also stop 'Messenger Service' messages from appearing by turning off the "Messenger
Service". To do so, click Start, then Run, enter "services.msc" and click OK. Scroll down to
"Messenger", select it, right-click and then choose Properties. Under startup type, choose
'Disabled' and then choose the 'Stop' button. After the service is stopped, click OK.
Nothing in Windows or any real third-party applications should be effected by this.
