Instant Access

P

Patty

After restarting my computer this morning, I noticed an icon on my desktop
which looks like the trademark "e" for explorer but it's a darker blue in
color and the name under it says "instant access". When I click on
properties, it says the type of file: Application, Description: Run a DLL as
an App, Location: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop. On the
shortcut, it says Target type: Application, Target Location: SYSTEM32
Target: undll32.exe p2esocks_1030.dll, InstantAccess/D. It does say
"undll32" as opposed to "rundll32". Was wondering what this is and if it is
needed. On the compatibility screen it says: Compatibility cannot be set
on this program because it is part of Windows XP. It DIDN'T appear when i
did a Windows Update the other day and rebooted for the installations to
complete. Where did it come from and is it a virus or what??

Thanx, Patty

Hi Patty,

It's not normal, it's not part of WinXP, and at a guess I'd say it is
something you don't really want that has attempted to disguise itself by
appearing as a system icon. I would delete it without reservation.
