Can you recommend the InstallShield software that will run on Vista
(32-bit)? Thanks.

I did not know InstallShield comes with Vista. Where do I find
Installshield on Vista?

Thanks.

What is wrong with what comes with Vista

I am a complete dufus by answering what I did in my previous post

Sorry Diane. I misread your post . Instashield usually comes with some 3rd party programs that uses it to install.their software.

Here is some info on Instashield

It's the version that comes with the Vista-compatible program you are
installing.

You shouldn't really need to install a version of Installshield otherwise,
unless you are writing software and require installation routines. In that
case, you should contact the makers of Installshield.

If you are having problems installing a program that uses installshield,
details would be helpful.

I want to use Installshield to package the software. This way, the user
does not need to put in the parameters. All he has to do is to run the
executable file (created from Installshield software) and the software will
install on his computer. What I am trying to find out is which
Installshield software is best to use? Looks like all of you recommend the
software from Acresso.

Have you used MSI or any packaging software? I just want to know the
difference between the packaging software.

Thanks.

Yes, I have. If all you need is to install an executable with some
limited interaction, wait for the Express version of 2009. Or better
yet, Google InstallShield Express 2008 and get it (it works just fine
with Vista and XP). InstallShield does have a learning curve, though.
If you're not familiar with program dependencies, merge modules and
..NET versions, it may take awhile to get a working package together.
Then again, it may take you only half an hour. Good luck.

Thanks very much for the information. I just want to be able to be able to
package the executable file quickly without a learning curve. Installshield
Express 2008 is also from Acresso.

Thanks again.
