I have just completed a hardware upgrade which for various
reasons means that everything in the case is new The
upgrade includes moving from W98 to XP. However no matter
what I do the installation routine fails time after time.
I have used MS Knowledge base and tried all of the tricks
there. The main thrust of the suggestions seems to be to
remove anything that might cause a conflict. I am now down
to one drive (an IDE drive but I have tried a SATA drive)
MOBO, memory chips and processor; graphics card with all
the drivers removed mouse and keyboard and monitor.
The MoBo is a L7vta/athlon2400/512M Sdram
memory/Creative5200 graphics/ I don't think there is
anything left to strip out! - but I am still getting for
example STOP messages and a whole string of memory address
locations. Any Ideas anyone???

Can you post the stop messages, and were you able to boot into Windows 98
and run the install from there, or are you trying to clean install XP?
The more information you provide the better we can help.
